Front doors - General

Direction of rotation

For front doors, the terms "DIN left" and "DIN right" refer to the direction (also hinge side) in which the door opens when viewed from the inside, and the position of the hinges.

(A useful rule of thumb is: "DIN is where the hinges are visible")

Installation

Information on installing your door is included with the order.

The installation of your front door should be carried out by professionals.

Installation drillings

Use pre-drilled installation holes to fit your front door simply and quickly.

Depending on the model, 6-10 dowel holes in the frame are pre-drilled all around.

Diameter of the holes approx. 6.5 mm.

The position of the holes is matched to the respective model and is shown as an example.

Surface interior

The front door also plays a significant role in interior design. To ensure that it matches the interior décor in terms of colour, you have the option to choose the interior colour of your door according to your preferences.

The colour options correspond to those available for the exterior as well. The transition from the exterior to the interior colour takes place roughly at the centre of the frame thickness – in the gasket groove.

Frame width

Please enter your desired frame dimension in millimetres. Thanks to state-of-the-art CAD-controlled manufacturing techniques, your new front door will be produced to the exact millimetre.

Determine the distance between the two reveals or wall rebates and subtract approximately 10 mm clearance on both the left and right sides. The resulting value is the order width.

Calculation: Reveal or wall rebate internal dimension minus 20 mm = order width.

Frame size height

Please enter your desired frame dimension in millimetres. Thanks to state-of-the-art CAD-controlled manufacturing techniques, your new front door will be produced to the exact millimetre.

Allow for an installation clearance of around 10-15 mm at the top and on each side to align and seal the door element correctly.

Measure from the top edge of the finished floor to the underside of the wall reveal. Deduct a 10 mm clearance at the top. The resulting value is the order height.

Calculation: Finished floor/wall reveal internal dimension – 10 mm = order height.

Ud-value

A significant proportion of the heat in a house often escapes through windows and doors. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to excellent thermal insulation in these areas. The thermal performance of a front door is indicated by the so-called Ud-value .

The rule is: The lower the Ud-value of the front door, the better the insulation. A well-insulated and sealed front door ensures that cold air stays outside in winter and that your hallway is protected from the heat in summer. This means you need less energy for heating (and also for cooling in summer), making your home not only more economical but also more environmentally friendly.

The Ud-value or the thermal transmittance coefficient indicates how well the door is insulated or how much heat is lost through 1 m² of the door surface when the temperature drops by 1 °C. This value should be as low as possible. For modern front doors, the U-value should not exceed 1.3 W/m²K (watts per square metre and kelvin). Experts recommend a Ud-value below 1.3 W/m²K. The lower, the better.

The front doors from our range are characterised by a U-value from 0.61 W/m²K and are therefore suitable for both renovation of old buildings and for passive houses.

The most important factors for a well-insulated entrance door, in addition to the Ud-value, are the thickness of the door leaf and frame, the insulating material in the door leaf, the number of seals and their design between door leaf, threshold and frame, as well as the insulation of the glazing.

Exterior handle

The door handle is a crucial design element that should be selected both aesthetically and ergonomically. With us, you can expect an extensive range of levers and pull handles in various shapes and lengths.

This gives you the opportunity to give your door a classic or modern appearance. Depending on the model, you can choose handle lengths from 750 mm to 1800 mm or even full-length pull handles.

All handles are made from stainless steel.

Floor base profile

Base installation profile

The base installation profile enables optimal, simple and stable front door installation on the unfinished floor and provides a thermal break between the interior and exterior areas of the floor structure, preventing what is known as a thermal bridge.

The base installation profile is configurable in heights from 30mm to 320mm.

Threshold

The thermally broken aluminium threshold in silver is standard. Version with concealed fixings.

Base static profile

The base static profile with positioning groove and sealing tape is standard. With an optimal cross-section at the bottom, it guarantees an absolutely dimensionally stable construction of your door, which is very important for transport and for quick and precise installation.

Glass

Glazed elements help to make the entrance area brighter and more inviting. At the same time, frosted glass provides the necessary privacy and enhances the appearance of your door.

With Inotherm door models, you can choose between clear glass, frosted glass, and frosted glass with a 20mm clear glass border.

The glazing consists of triple glazing.

As front doors are heavy and unwieldy, you should have two helpers ready for delivery. This way you can safely accept and store your door.

Locking

5-point locking system with round bolts and hooks (standard)

Secure doors are essential for a safe home. That’s why all our doors are factory-fitted with locks featuring a 5-point locking system with solid bolts, providing a very high level of burglary protection. The front doors in this series are equipped as standard with a high-quality 5-point locking system and a continuous, adjustable strike plate made of solid stainless steel. This offers increased security. Backset 45 mm.

5-point automatic locking system (optional)

With the new automatic multi-point locking system, four locking elements extend by 20 mm. The automatic latch bolt integrates a mechanical trigger, which, when it comes into contact with the frame part, causes the latch bolt and swing hook to extend.

In addition, the bolt in the main lock can be re-locked via the cylinder, thus blocking the handle. The elements of the secondary lock case are retracted, tensioned and locked for the next release via the handle or the key.

Are you looking for a suitable door for a passive house? In this case, we recommend additional frame insulation with excellent thermal insulation properties and, depending on the model, a reduction of the Ud value by approx. 0.2 W/m2K.

Exterior handle

The door handle is a crucial design element that should be chosen both aesthetically and ergonomically. You can expect an extensive selection of levers and pull handles in various shapes and lengths.

This gives you the opportunity to give your door a classic or modern appearance. Depending on the model, you can choose between handle lengths from 1000 mm to 1600 mm.

All handles are made of stainless steel.

Floor base profile

Base Entry Profile / Thermal Threshold

The base entry profile or thermal threshold is installed beneath the threshold of the front door and stabilises the entire door construction.

The profile also serves as a thermal break, i.e. it insulates the front door between the internal floor and the external floor covering, thus preventing heat from escaping. Once installed, the base entry profile is no longer visible, as it disappears completely into the floor.

Our base entry profiles are not only highly thermally insulating, but can also withstand the heaviest loads.

Threshold

(The security class RC0 is the lowest resistance class according to the standard DIN EN 1627. In this class, there is no test certificate, which means that the components (such as doors and windows) have not been tested for burglary resistance. (The security class RC2 is a category for burglar-resistant components defined according to the standard DIN EN 1627. RC2 components provide protection against burglary attempts using simple lever tools such as screwdrivers, pliers or wedges for a minimum of three minutes. This class is particularly suitable for private residential areas where a certain level of security is required, but no extreme security measures are necessary.)

Locking

3-point locking system (standard, as standard)

The key-operated multi-point locking system always provides increased security and lasting protection against door warping. With key-operated multi-point locks, all locking elements in the main lock and the auxiliary lock cases can be operated with a double turn of the key via the main lock. This meets the highest demands for security and convenience.

5-point automatic (optional)

The automatic multi-point locking system locks your door via the auxiliary lock cases simply by pulling it shut. This ensures RC2 protection (for doors without glass cut-outs or side panels) even without engaging the main lock, providing permanent burglary resistance. This is achieved in four places by two soft-lock latch bolts and two solid swing hooks.

A mechanical trigger is integrated, which activates the four locking elements in the auxiliary lock cases when they come into contact with the frame part. These are retracted, tensioned and locked for the next activation by means of the handle or key. The main lock bolt can be locked via the cylinder, thereby blocking the handle.

A day function is included as standard.

Window - PVC

Threshold profile

A floor base profile compensates for the height difference between the unfinished floor and the finished floor. It improves the stability of floor-to-ceiling balcony doors, both with and without a threshold. It also provides a thermal break between the interior and exterior areas of the floor structure and prevents thermal bridges.

From a height of 100 mm, the floor base profile is additionally reinforced with steel. Profiles of 30mm, 50mm and 100mm are combined to achieve the different heights.

Floor-to-ceiling

Non-floor-to-ceiling balcony doors start slightly above the floor and end at the height of the windows.

Floor-to-ceiling balcony doors extend from the edge of the floor up to the height of the adjacent windows and create a continuous and harmonious line in the room. This modern option not only provides comfortable access to the outside area, but also allows for maximum light entry thanks to the large glazed surface. They promote an open, bright atmosphere and offer a seamless and barrier-free transition to the terrace or garden. This access can be further improved by a floor threshold.

In summary: Floor-to-ceiling balcony doors are a modern solution which, thanks to their design, both visually enlarge the space and make access to the outside easier. Non-floor-to-ceiling variants, on the other hand, offer flexibility in room design and energy adjustments.

Base connection

Before you order your window sill connection profiles, please carefully check your situation on site.

There are differences between window sill connection profiles in new builds and old buildings, as they have different structural requirements.

For old buildings:

  • Application: Use these profiles when an existing external window sill is deeper than the internal window sill.
  • Function: They compensate for the height difference and provide a tight seal.
  • Details: Old building profiles often have an edge that is placed on the old window sill, and a silicone joint ensures sealing.
  • Variants: There are different heights to compensate for various differences.

For new builds:

  • Application: You use these profiles when installing new windows and window sills, often with insulation.
  • Function: They create a tight transition between window frame, window sill and wall for thermal and moisture protection.
  • Details: New build profiles are easy to install and are fixed directly to the window frame.
  • Standard: There are standard profiles with a height of 30 mm, suitable for internal and external window sills.

Important: A careful inspection helps you choose the right profile and ensures you achieve a tight and efficient connection.

In summary:
Old building profiles help with height differences, while new building profiles are easy to install. Both protect against moisture, heat loss and draughts.

Window dimension

1. Measuring window width

Measure the wall opening at the top, middle, and bottom. Select the smallest measurement and deduct the installation clearance as per table on each side (2x).

The result is the order size for the width.

2. Measuring window height

Measure the wall opening height in several places and take the smallest measurement. Deduct the installation clearance as per table once at the top (1x). If a window sill connection is planned, also deduct its height. If there is an existing roller shutter box, only deduct the installation clearance once.

The result is the order size for the height.

Handle

You lock your front doors, but do you also lock your windows?

If a burglar manages to reach the handle through the gasket or the glazing, a lockable window handle can prevent the window from being opened.

If you choose the security package RC2(N), you will also receive a lockable window handle.

Handle colour

For the handle colour option "matching", we will select your handle colour to match the surface according to the following scheme:

  • Room side white / PVC → white handle
  • Room side wood-effect or brown decorative foils → bronze handle
  • Room side other decorative foils → silver handle

Of course, you can also choose your handle colour individually.

The windows will arrive on single-use or reusable transport racks “kerbside delivery” to your address in Luxembourg. For further transport to the desired installation site or storage, it’s best to have the support of a helper. The single-use transport racks remain with you.

Windows are bulky and require strong hands – ideally, one or two helpers should be at your side. This way, you can safely move your order to the right place.

The window has no mullion, allowing an uninterrupted view outside. The flying mullion sash is a turn-only sash and cannot be tilted. To open the window, the tilt-and-turn sash with handle must always be opened first.

Patterned glass

A window with patterned glass offers you the ideal solution to enjoy privacy while still letting in plenty of daylight.

Especially in the bathroom, Satinato glazing is very popular.

Whether Chinchilla or Mastercarre – these different patterns and textures give your window an aesthetic accent while also providing discreet privacy protection.

Your patterned glass panes are supplied as standard with the structure facing the cavity between the panes on the room side.

Security glass

Most burglars simply smash the pane? Wrong! Only a few thieves break the glass, as the fear of noise and injury is too great. Nevertheless, it can be important to consider burglar-resistant glazing.

With our security glass, one or more PVB interlayers are located in the gap. The interlayers prevent breakage and make it significantly more difficult to destroy the glass.

  • Laminated safety glass (LSG): Laminated safety glass with PVB interlayer single
  • P2A: Laminated safety glass with PVB interlayer double
  • P4A: Laminated safety glass with 4-fold PVB interlayer as tested anti-throw glass P4A according to DIN EN 356

Security package

Entop's PVC windows already feature a mushroom cam in the fitting as standard.

With the security packages you can further improve the burglary protection of your windows.

For the highest demands we naturally also offer the security classes tested according to DIN EN RC2 and RC2N. With this equipment, Entop windows have been intensively tested by independent testing institutes.

System

Choose from three profile systems by the premium manufacturer Kömmerling:

  • 76mm PVC profile (optionally double or triple glazing)
  • 88mm PVC profile
  • 88mm PVC profile with external aluminium cladding

All systems feature a stepped design, with 3 sealing levels and forward-facing drainage protected by cover caps.

Guarantee & Warranty

The statutory warranty is legally granted to consumers and applies whenever the goods are not free from defects or do not correspond to the seller’s description.

For new goods , the statutory warranty period in Europe is at least 2 years; for used goods, it is at least 1 year.

Warranty rights are valid throughout the EU, thanks to the European Sale of Goods Directive. This was updated and expanded in all member states in January 2022. In some respects, it only sets minimum standards.

In Germany and other EU countries, the reversal of the burden of proof applies for 12 months after purchase. This means that if a defect occurs in the purchased goods within this period, it is presumed that the product was defective from the outset. This makes it easier for the buyer to make a complaint.

Warranty is not the same as guarantee! A guarantee is a voluntary service provided by the retailer (retailer’s guarantee) or the manufacturer (manufacturer’s guarantee). Retailers and manufacturers can determine the duration and conditions of the guarantee themselves.
